Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Art Deco wall sign originates from the 1920s and takes the form of an Odeon cinema exit sign. Fashioned from gilt metal in a gold finish, the rectangular panel includes stencil cut-out lettering spelling the word exit, set within a decorative double border frame with a textured finish. Signs of age appear across the surface in the form of general vintage wear, scuffs, and minor surface blemishes. Measuring 36 cm high, 105 cm wide, and 3 cm deep, the sign fits well on a narrow wall space in a living room, hallway, or cinema room as a decorative interior feature.

FAQs

During the early to mid-20th century, picture houses and theatres installed prominent metal signage to indicate emergency routes in compliance with public safety regulations.

Commercial exit signs from this era were frequently fabricated from heavy-gauge brass or bronze, featuring stencil-cut lettering and moulded outer borders.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit geometric border mouldings, stencil-cut sans-serif typography, solid metal construction, and surface oxidisation from age.

Commercial signage can be mounted as focal wall art in hallways, entertainment rooms, or above sideboards to introduce architectural texture.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a light coat of microcrystalline wax to preserve the natural patina without chemical polishes.
