Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early twentieth-century expedition equipment was constructed from solid timber and natural materials designed for endurance in harsh alpine or polar environments. These items transition from functional survival tools to historical sporting collectables.

Hardwoods such as ash or hickory were preferred for skis due to their flexibility and strength, whilst poles utilised lightweight bamboo or hazel. Bindings were typically fashioned from heavy leather and metal hardware.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved details, stamped maker marks or initials, original iron fittings, and aged leather that shows natural surface wear. Modern reproductions often lack genuine surface patination, hand-forged metalwork, and period-correct construction techniques.

Vertical elements like wooden skis or ice axes create striking wall features or corner displays in rustic, chalet, or industrial-style interiors. Pairing dark timber equipment with neutral textiles adds texture and historical character to modern spaces.

Keep timber components away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent warping or cracking. Periodically treat dry wood and leather with appropriate wax polishes or conditioners to maintain material integrity without stripping the natural patina.
