Culvertons has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It can comfortably support and display artwork of average weight up to 1 metre high. As you would expect it has minor marks and blemishes commensurate with its age, but I cannot remember stocking a better, more original, late 19th-century display easel - the quality of manufacture and style of the brass adjusting knob points to the cabinet makers' James Shoolbred & Company of Tottenham Court Road in London.
