Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staffordshire watch holders are glazed earthenware figures produced primarily during the Victorian era in Staffordshire, England. Designed with a hollow circular aperture, these flatback pottery pieces served as display stands for pocket watches on mantelpieces when the watches were not being worn.

These items were manufactured from earthenware clay using press-moulding techniques. They were finished with a clear lead glaze and decorated with overglaze polychrome enamel paints, often featuring press-moulded details and hand-painted facial features.

Authentic pieces generally feature a flat, unpainted reverse side designed to sit flush against a wall or mantelpiece. They display characteristic production attributes such as small firing holes to release air during kilning, glaze crazing, and slight hand-painted variations.

Place the piece on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or open bookshelf as part of a curated vignette. Combining classic Staffordshire ceramics with minimalist or modern backdrops creates an engaging visual contrast in period or eclectic spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or dry brush. Avoid submerging earthenware in water or using abrasive chemical detergents, as moisture can penetrate existing glaze crazing and damage overglaze enamel detailing.
