Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Octagonal dining tables gained prominence during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, designed to encourage more inclusive conversation among guests by eliminating traditional head-of-table hierarchies.

These tables typically utilise solid dense timbers such as Honduran or Cuban mahogany, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, hand-turned pedestals, and often incorporate stretcher bases for structural stability.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, searching for hand-cut joints, assessing patina and oxidisation depth, and checking for period-appropriate hardware such as brass castors.

Pairing a dark wood antique table with contemporary minimalist seating and streamlined lighting creates a balanced contrast that anchors a modern dining space.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, applying high-quality beeswax periodically, and avoiding direct sunlight and moisture to prevent warping and fading.
