This early 19th-century Regency tea table is formed in a demilune shape with a foldover top. The piece is constructed from mahogany in a warm brown colour with a polished finish and features horizontal reeding along the apron, a central rectangular tablet panel on the frieze, and turned, reeded legs in the Gillows style with ring turnings at the top. The dimensions are 73 cm high, 91 cm wide, and 45 cm deep. In a modern interior, this versatile console functions well placed beside the front door in a hallway to hold keys and post, or positioned against a living room wall as a side table.

Originating in the early 19th century, a Regency mahogany tea table was designed as a specialized accent table featuring a hinged folding top that could open to accommodate tea services or card games.

These tables were typically constructed using solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers, featuring hand-carved turned or reeded legs, dovetail joinery, and gate-leg or rear pivoting leg support mechanisms.

Authentic Regency examples exhibit distinct proportions, reeded legs characteristic of makers such as Gillows, original brass flap hinges, and natural wood oxidation along the interior underside.

Positioned against a wall in its folded state, it serves as a narrow console table suitable for entryways or living spaces when topped with table lamps, ceramics, or framed artwork.

Maintain the surface by placing the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping, and apply a light coating of natural beeswax periodically to protect the finish.
