FAQs

Victorian dining tables typically reflect the eclecticism of the 19th century, drawing inspiration from Gothic, Elizabethan, and Rococo revivals with heavy timber construction and elaborate turning.

Mahogany was the primary timber of choice for high-end Victorian furniture, often complemented by secondary softwoods like pine for internal framing and brass castors on the feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, traditional finishing methods such as French polish, natural timber ageing, and tool marks consistent with 19th-century workshop production.

Pairing a dark wood antique table with modern minimalist seating creates a balanced juxtaposition that highlights the rich grain and historical craftsmanship.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax periodically rather than modern silicone sprays.
