FAQs

Early Victorian furniture spans the mid-19th century, bridging late Georgian classical proportions with heavier, more robust forms and rich mahogany timbers.

These tables were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods, utilising traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut dovetails, traditional wood shrinkage patterns, natural wax patina, and hand-turned structural elements rather than modern mechanical fasteners.

A drop leaf table works well placed against a wall with leaves dropped as a console, or fully extended to function as an adaptable dining or workspace.

Maintain antique mahogany by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, applying natural beeswax periodically, and avoiding direct sunlight and high humidity fluctuations.
