William IV furniture, popular during the 1830s, bridges late Regency and early Victorian aesthetics, characterised by robust proportions, heavy scrollwork, and rich timber veneers.

These tables were typically constructed using a solid timber frame, often mahogany or rosewood, frequently enhanced with highly figured flame mahogany veneers on the top surface.

Authentic pieces often feature heavy architectural pedestals, platform bases with scroll feet, hand-cut joinery, and natural patina consistent with nineteenth-century cabinet making techniques.

Pairing a dark wood pedestal table with modern minimalist seating creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship without overwhelming the space.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and periodically applying beeswax, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity to prevent timber splitting.
