FAQs

Edwardian lamp tables gained prominence during the early 20th century as electricity and specialized lighting became common in domestic interiors, necessitating dedicated surfaces for lamps and decorative objects.

These tables were typically crafted from dense hardwoods like mahogany or walnut, frequently paired with inset marble slabs to provide a durable, heat-resistant surface for lighting and display.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques, genuine timber ageing characteristics, hand-cut dovetails in any drawers, and natural wear patterns consistent with early twentieth-century manufacturing methods.

These tables provide functional surface space and rich texture in modern rooms, working effectively as bedside surfaces or flanking a sofa to introduce contrasting historical character.

Maintain timber using appropriate furniture waxes sparingly, avoid direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, and clean marble tops using neutral, non-acidic solutions to protect the polish.
