Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter proportions, neoclassical influences, and delicate marquetry or stringing, moving away from the heavy, dark styles of the late Victorian era.

Pieces from this period frequently employed solid mahogany, satinwood, and walnut veneers, often enhanced with boxwood or ebony stringing, brass handles, and leather writing surfaces inset using traditional hand-tooling methods.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting dovetail joints, timber types, secondary woods like pine or oak in drawer linings, hand-cut screws, and the natural ageing, patina, and wear appropriate to the early 20th century.

Pair the table with a contemporary, minimalist chair to create textural contrast, or place it against a neutral wall as a focal point in a home office, living room, or hallway.

Maintain the finish by keeping the piece out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive humidity changes, applying microcrystalline wax sparingly to the timber, and dusting the leather surface with a soft, dry cloth.
