Cricket tables originated in 17th-century England and Wales, traditionally utilised in domestic settings and vernacular spaces for various household tasks.

These tables are typically constructed from native English timbers such as oak, elm, or pine, featuring pegged joints, pegged plank tops, and three splayed legs to ensure stability on uneven floors.

Authentic period pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, and natural oxidisation consistent with centuries of age.

This piece can be styled as an accent table beside seating or in an empty corner, providing textural contrast against contemporary minimalism.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber finish.
