Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

William IV furniture, produced roughly between 1830 and 1837, bridges the Regency and early Victorian periods, characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and heavy use of figured timbers like rosewood and mahogany.

Master cabinetmakers predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut, often employing intricate veneers on softwood or hardwood subframes to highlight natural wood grain patterns.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting construction methods, such as hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage patterns, traditional polish finish like French polish, and signs of age-appropriate oxidisation and wear within hidden joints.

A grand circular table serves as a strong focal point in a large entrance hall or living space, balancing traditional craftsmanship with minimalist modern seating or contemporary artwork to create visual contrast.

Protect rosewood from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer cracking. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and periodically apply microcrystalline wax to maintain the protective polish finish.
