Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain refers to wares manufactured in the town of Arita in Hizen province, northwestern Kyushu, and exported from the port of Imari during the Edo period, starting in the early 17th century.

Imari ware is traditionally made from fine white kaolin clay, fired at high temperatures to create durable porcelain, and hand-painted using an underglaze cobalt blue combined with overglaze iron-red, gold, and secondary colours like green or black.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-thrown potting irregularities, slight kiln imperfections, iron-spotting in the glaze, finely detailed hand-painting with characteristic cobalt blue and iron-red palettes, and often an unglazed foot rim showing the maturity of the paste.

An antique Imari bowl can be displayed centrally on a dining table, console, or within a cabinet, adding a distinct layer of historical texture, rich colour, and global craftsmanship to modern or traditional schemes.

Antique porcelain should be washed by hand in warm water using mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, or dishwashers, and handled carefully by the body rather than delicate rims.
