FAQs

Traditional French coffee tables often originate from lowered dining tables, provincial workbenches, or salon tables adapted for lower seating, characterised by simple rectangular tops and sturdy wooden legs.

These tables were typically constructed from solid regional hardwoods such as French oak, cherry, or walnut, featuring traditional joinery like mortise and tenon.

Authentication involves inspecting the hand-cut joinery, natural patina from age and use, hand-turned wooden knobs, and tool marks consistent with early twentieth-century craftsmanship.

An antique wooden table provides grounding warmth in contemporary spaces, contrasting well with neutral upholstered sofas, minimalist lighting, and clean architectural lines.

Preservation requires avoiding direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, cleaning with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the timber.
