William IV furniture, popular during the 1830s, bridges the Regency and Early Victorian periods, characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and heavy use of dense timbers like mahogany and rosewood.

These tables are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood veneer over a secondary wood, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, central pedestals, and robust tripod or platform bases.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery, traditional hand-cut screws, timber shrinkage patterns, patination consistent with age, and characteristic heavy pedestal designs without modern fasteners.

Pair this piece with clean-lined modern seating to create a striking contrast, or use it as a freestanding centre table in a spacious entrance hall to display floral arrangements.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, and apply natural beeswax periodically to nourish the grain and preserve the finish.
