Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Console tables historically served as decorative architectural supports attached to walls or freestanding furniture pieces placed in grand hallways and formal reception rooms, gaining prominence during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Traditional construction typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut for the frame, paired with polished natural stone surfaces like white or variegated marble.

Authentication involves examining joinery techniques, timber oxidisation patterns, weight distribution, and the natural grain and veining of the stone top to check for period-appropriate craftsmanship.

Pairing a classic marble and wood console with minimalist modern lighting and restrained accessories creates a balanced focal point in an entrance hall or living space.

Mahogany should be treated with appropriate wax polishes to nourish the grain, while marble requires gentle, non-acidic cleaning solutions to prevent etching on the polished surface.
