FAQs

The Regency and late George III periods are characterised by classical restraint, inspired by Greco-Roman design, featuring clean lines, fine veneers, and architectural proportions.

Cabinet makers typically used dense tropical hardwoods such as Cuban or Honduras mahogany, often with figured flame veneer top surfaces, supported by turned central pillars and tripod leg bases.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetails, traditional joinery without modern fixings, dry patination on secondary woods, and natural wax finishes developed over centuries.

This piece works effectively as an accent surface in modern rooms, contrasting well against neutral walls or paired with minimalist seating to highlight its historic wood grain.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with microcrystalline wax to nourish the surface without building up residue.
