Wine tables, also known as tripod tables or occasional tables, gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries as portable surfaces for serving beverages or holding small decorative objects in drawing rooms and parlours.

Traditional construction typically involves hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut for the turned pedestal base and tripod legs, paired with inset marble tops and pierced brass gallery rims.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved details, natural patination on the wood and brass, and minor irregularities in the marble veining consistent with historical hand-crafting methods.

These compact tables function effectively as bedside surfaces, between armchairs as a place for a reading lamp, or positioned in an empty corner to display small sculptures or floral arrangements.

Maintain the wood with appropriate wax polish, clean the marble top with a damp cloth and mild soap while avoiding acidic substances, and periodically check the stability of the tripod base.
