Pedestal tables with stone or marble tops gained significant popularity during the Regency and Victorian periods, often influenced by classical European designs and Grand Tour souvenirs.

These pieces typically feature a solid hardwood base, such as mahogany or walnut, paired with a heavy marble or hardstone top, frequently incorporating intricate mosaic or inlay work.

Authenticity is determined by examining the joinery, the ageing of the timber, the hand-cut nature of any stone inlay, and the natural wear patterns consistent with historical manufacturing techniques.

This piece works effectively as a focal point in a hallway or as an accent table beside a modern sofa, contrasting historic craftsmanship with clean architectural lines.

Clean the wooden base with a soft, dry cloth and nourish it periodically with appropriate wax. Wipe the stone top with a damp cloth, avoiding acidic cleaners that can etch the surface.
