A fine quality late 19th Century French Kingwood, parquetry inlaid centre table, in the manner of Francoise Linke, with cross banding and wonderful gilded ormolu mounts and mouldings, the mounts to the top of the legs depicting classical female busts, raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in scrolling ormolu feet.

A gueridon is a small French occasional table introduced in the 17th century, originally designed to support candelabra or small objects. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the form evolved into an ornate salon piece characterised by detailed parquetry and gilt-bronze mounts.

These tables typically feature exotic timber veneers such as kingwood, rosewood, and tulipwood laid in geometric parquetry patterns over an oak frame. Decorative accents consist of cast and chased gilt-bronze, known as ormolu, applied to the rims, aprons, and legs.
