Japanese Meiji Lacquered & Gilded Buddha Shrine

Description

This a charming example of a mid 19th century Japanese travelling shrine. The Japanese Meiji period shrine is modelled as a carved wooden Buddha seated upon a throne, his slippers upon a jade green cushion. It is lacquered and beautifully hand gilded and decorated with very nice detail. The shrine is in excellent order with only very slight rubbing to the gilding.

This is 15 cms in height and can be delivered fully insured within the UK for £12

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
