In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1930s.
It is a high quality set with a good proportion of bone, approximately 40% bone to 60% bamboo, joined with a nicely cut dovetail joint. There is a complete set of 144 tiles, two small dice and a quantity of sticks. The tiles measure approx 25mm x 20mm x 11mm high.

The tiles are kept in a specially made wooden box with sliding door and trays for the tiles and accessories. The box is beautifully inlaid with birds and flowers and it has a carrying handle on the top. The drawers are accessed by pushing them outwards through finger holes in the rear of the box. The box measures approx 8 1/2" (24cm) long x 6" (15cm) wide x 6 1/4" (16cm) high.

The whole set is in very good condition for its age. It is not new and has been used. There are general signs of wear and use and some discolouration on some of the pieces but no major damages. The joints are in good order with a few small splits but it is a very usable set.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
