FAQs

Edwardian pedestals reflect the lighter, more refined tastes of the early 20th century, often drawing inspiration from earlier neoclassical and Georgian revival designs.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense tropical hardwoods such as mahogany or satinwood, featuring hand-carved decorative motifs and sturdy joined bases.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber shrinkage, tool marks, patination, and traditional joinery methods consistent with early 20th-century cabinet making.

A pedestal can serve as a focal point in an empty corner to display sculptural art, ceramics, or botanicals, creating height and architectural interest in a room.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax, and dusting with a soft, dry cloth.
