18th Century Welsh Oak Inlaid Side Table

Description

A unusual Welsh lowboy or side table of “strong” form and good surface with a rich colour and patina. The moulded-edge, twin plank top has an inlaid stringing line, repeated on the drawer which sits above an undulating frieze edged with cockbeading.

The unusually bold cabriole legs end in large, pointed pad feet (one original rear foot, the other three have historic spliced replacements).

Probably Glamorganshire circa 1740-60.
