Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Rough amber is fossilised tree resin that has hardened over millions of years, retained in its unpolished, natural state. Unlike polished amber gems, rough specimens retain their raw exterior textures, natural fractures, and original organic formations.

Amber consists primarily of fossilised botanical resins produced by extinct coniferous or angiosperm trees. It is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, frequently containing natural inclusions such as plant debris or air bubbles preserved during formation.

Authentic amber feels warm to the touch and is lightweight compared to glass or stone. It typically floats in saturated salt water, produces a mild static charge when rubbed with a cloth, and releases a faint pine or resinous aroma when gently warmed.

Raw amber specimens serve as striking functional paperweights on wooden desks or accent pieces in curio cabinets. Placing the piece near soft lighting highlights its internal clarity, honey tones, and natural inclusions.

Dust raw amber gently using a soft brush or microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol solutions, or ultrasonic cleaners, and store the specimen away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying or cracking.
