A fine Regency period needlework picture of Samson fighting the lion. There is a great dynamism to the scene and the lion is wonderfully grotesque. The piece is beautifully worked in wool and silk with fine stitching and great textured detail. The needlework is in excellent condition with no holes but some fading. The work is mounted in the original fine quality bird’s eye maple frame with a great original colour and patina. The whole is a wonderfully decorative work and a lovely example of this type of needlework.
