A rare photograph or photographic print of Chief Joseph Two Young Men by Canadian photographer Harry Pollard 1880-1968. The image is a portrait of Chief Joseph Two Young Men of the Stoney or Nakoda people. The photograph is in good condition with some slight damage to the lower right and overpaint to the left upper arm. The piece is framed in a simple black mount with title and thin black frame and was probably mounted in the 1960’s. Harry Pollard was born in 1880 in Tillsonburg, Ontario. His father, James, was also a photographer. In May 1899, Pollard moved to Calgary where he opened a photography studio. Among his most notable photographs are those documenting the First Nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy living in Canada. In 1924, Pollard was press photographer for Associated Screen News, a subsidiary of Canadian Pacific Railway. He was hired to take promotional pictures of ocean cruises, and his job took him around the world 14 times. The Harry Pollard photograph collection is in ...the Provincial Archives of Alberta, Canada having been acquired by the provincial government in 1964. Early photographs and photographic prints by Pollard are quite rare to the market and highly desirable. This is a wonderful image and interesting historical document. C.1910.
Overall sizes in inches including frame: 10 ½ by 12 ½
