Daphne Du Maurier 'the Birds' Edwardian Three Fold Screen C1910

This is an amazing antique Art Nouveau three fold screen with bespoke fabrics created by the exciting new designer Alice Scarlett.
 
It has been fully restored and professionally reupholstered in bespoke natural silk satin narrative fabric depicting scenes from the famous novel ''The Birds'' by Daphne Du Maurier.
 
The designer was kindly granted access by Lord Richard Rashleigh to the historic Menabilly House and former residence of Daphne Du Maurier, situated just outside Fowey
 
Each element of the scenic design was individually hand-painted in watercolour, taking inspiration from the Cornish flora and fauna surrounding her former home.
 
At the top of the cliff face sits The Gribben daymark which is visible from Menabilly house below the cliffs fall into the raging seas and rocks.
 
In the fore front of this scene are a selection of birds native to this area and who''s species are specifically referenced in the novel.
