Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Ceramic cat wall pockets are decorative wall-mounted vessels shaped like recumbent or stylized cats, designed to hold small floral arrangements or remain as standalone wall art. They originated in 18th and 19th-century European tin-glazed pottery traditions, including French faience from regions such as Desvres and Quimper.

Traditional faience wall pockets are crafted from earthenware dipped in an opaque white tin glaze, which provides a smooth canvas for hand-painted polychrome decoration. In addition to painted motifs, some regional styles incorporate inlaid glass eyes or gilded highlights prior to final firing.

Authentic pieces generally display a flat, unglazed reverse with original hanging apertures designed for flush wall placement. Look for hand-painted brushwork rather than transfer prints, age-consistent crazing in the tin glaze, and painted maker marks or numerals on the reverse.

Style ceramic wall pockets by mounting them in pairs flanking a mirror or framing a doorway, or integrate them into a curated gallery wall. They can be displayed empty as sculptural art or styled with dried botanicals and feathers to avoid introducing moisture inside the ceramic structure.

Dust ceramics regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush or microfiber cloth. Avoid immersing tin-glazed earthenware in water or using abrasive liquid cleaners, as moisture can enter fine glaze cracks and cause deterioration to underlying earthenware.
