A fine quality Austrian bronze inkwell in the form of a pigeon in life size. The bronze is beautifully made and observed, the detail is absolutely naturalistic. The bronze was originally gilded but this has now all but worn away. The piece is marked ‘Geschutzt’ in two places on the underside of the bird indicating a registered design by one of the leading makers. The piece is in good antique condition with wear but no brakes or damage, the inkwell liner is a later replacement. The whole is a wonderfully decorative piece of exceptionally fine quality.
