Description

Circa 1900. The bird nicely modelled on a branch with grasses over a clever and realistic river bed setting decorated with lilies. A small ivorine plaque can be found set in the groundwork for ‘Rowland Ward London’.

22cm Wide x 15cm High x 14.5cm deep.

Rowland Ward was the most prestigious and largest of all the great Victorian taxidermy firms, famous throughout the world for their fine taxidermy. His shop at 167 Piccadilly, London was throughout the Empire referred to as "The Jungle." His cases easily recognizable by the all glass case method of construction and the excellent taxidermy within.
