We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pedal planes gained popularity during the mid-twentieth century following the rise of commercial aviation. Produced alongside pedal cars, these ride-on toys featured mechanical foot cranks that turned the rear wheels and simultaneously rotated the front propeller.

Most pedal toys were fabricated from heavy-gauge pressed sheet steel or tinplate, finished with baked enamel or oil-based paint. Moving parts, such as the steering linkage, pedal cranks, and windshield trims, were commonly constructed from cast iron or chrome-plated metal.

Authentic period examples feature folded metal edges rather than modern plastic moldings, heavy iron pedal mechanisms, and original painted finishes displaying natural surface oxidisation. Markings from manufacturers such as Murray, Garton, or Giordani often appear stamped on the underside or metal seat.

Metal pedal planes serve as sculptural focal points when placed directly on the floor in an empty room corner, nursery, or home office. They are frequently used in industrial or mid-century interiors to add historical texture and graphic silhouette.

To prevent active corrosion, maintain the object in a dry interior environment with stable humidity. Dust gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin layer of microcrystalline wax to bare metal areas to seal against moisture without altering the existing patina.
