Art Deco Aquarium as Polar Bears on an Iceberg

An Art Deco Aquarium stand made in painted plaster, in the form of an iceberg with a family of Polar bears on it. The Mother sits atop the iceberg on her haunches, whistfully looking out to sea, as her two cubs playfully look into the fish tank presumeably attempting to catch the pet goldfish. The whole thing is extremely playful and fun and thus exemplifys the Art Deco period. The plaster is painted and finished off to a high standard, all naturalistically painted in shades of white and black. I have seen very rarely these stands before, but never the Polar bears before which are particularly charming, and it is in good condition just slight flaking of the paint here and there and a slight loss to an icicle on one side. I think mainly because they are plaster these aquariums are often linked to Golschneider although this might be the case, this has a registration mark, registered in this country for 1938.
