Description

I have had many of similar boxes such as these over the years but I have never come across one with this unusual and highly decorative brass front in this particular design. This one has a series of floral garlands gracing it's front.

This Victorian letters box was made to hang on the wall or sit table-top for collection of outing "Post" and letters for hand "Delivery".

These wonderful pieces would have been in a smart hotel, private club or aristocratic residence and mail placed in the box for taking either to the post office or hand delivered; very civilized!

Excellent condition, measuring 11 3/4" x 4 3/4" x 6" tall at rear.
