Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pot pourri jar was designed to hold dried flowers, herbs, and spices to release aroma into living spaces. English manufacturers, including Royal Worcester, produced ornate porcelain versions during the late 19th and early 20th centuries that functioned as decorative display pieces as well as room fragrancers.

These pieces were crafted using soft-paste or bone china porcelain, hand-tinted with ground pigments, and accented with fired liquid gold gilding. Decorative features like the lattice neck involved hand-piercing or reticulation of the clay before initial kiln firing.

Authentic pieces feature a printed factory mark on the base, often accompanied by a system of dots or date codes that indicate the exact year of manufacture. Hand-painted examples by known factory artists typically display a small painted signature within the scene, such as Jas Stinton for game birds.

A decorative porcelain vessel can be styled as a focal accent on a mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard. Placing it against neutral plaster or dark painted walls highlights the hand-painted detailing and gilded highlights.

Gilded porcelain should be dusted lightly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft bristle brush around reticulated sections. Abrasive cleaners, chemical detergents, and immersion in water should be avoided to prevent wear to the surface gilding and paintwork.
