Fine Victorian Still Life Oil Painting on Convex Glass

A fine Victorian reverse painted oil on convex glass still life of flowers. The painting is of a very good quality for this type of artwork, the flowers are beautifully depicted and the addition of a butterfly is lovely. The painting is finely worked from behind on convex glass. The piece is in very good condition with no losses and only some slight areas with air pockets between the glass and the paint. The painting is not signed which is not unusual for this commercial decorative work but the piece is of the finest quality. The work retains the original oval gilt frame which again is very good quality and in excellent untouched condition with great worn gilding. The piece is a wonderful example of this Victorian decorative art in excellent condition and is ready to hang. C.1860.
