Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian miniature travelling roulette wheel from 1890 offers a charming touch of historic gaming tradition. This compact piece consists of a turned dark brown mahogany casing with smooth rounded mouldings, holding a spinning wheel decorated with alternating red and black segments around a central vertical brass spindle. Paper elements appear beneath the spindle, showing age through subtle wear across the decorative surface. Visible details include the fine curved turning of the timber body and the polished metal pin standing upright in the middle. The entire object measures 4.5 cm high, 9 cm wide, and 9 cm deep, resting comfortably in the palm of an adult hand for scale. It sits well on a bookshelf within a gentleman's library, study, or living room display cabinet. Collectors of antique games and miniature curiosities will find this item a fitting conversation starter for a desk or tabletop setting.

FAQs

Miniature travelling roulette wheels emerged in the late nineteenth century as portable entertainment for travellers and parlour game enthusiasts. These compact objects recreated the mechanics of full-sized casino games on a reduced scale for private recreation.

These pieces were typically constructed from turned hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood, combined with central brass spindles and hand-painted or printed paper wheel faces.

Authentic examples feature period-appropriate construction, including hand-turned timber casings, original brass fittings with natural oxidisation, and period typography across the numbered segments.

A miniature gaming wheel serves as a curious accent piece displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or inside a glass cabinet within a study or home library.

Keep timber items away from direct sunlight and moisture fluctuations to prevent wood movement or splitting. Clean gently using a dry, soft-bristled brush to avoid damaging original painted surfaces.
