Along the Thames Huge London Engraving for Long Wall,

19th century
For Sale by Limited Editions
Description

Wow how fantastic would this be in a London pub or restaurant or even one elsewhere which might have an interest in the Thames. It could fit into your house if you have a long wall of course. The longest picture we have ever had if my memory serves me well at almost 4m.

Running along the Thames there are numerous well know buildings and locations shown on this engraving from the 1800s. Showing some steam boats that were first launched in the late 1700s I believe. It has been framed in I suspect the 1960s and the surround is good and very presentable. The engraving is clear and very viewable. A super item for only £150 and pretty much unrepeatable.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Panoramic topographical engravings are wide-format prints created from etched copper or steel plates, designed to display expansive views of urban landscapes, rivers, and skylines.

These prints were typically etched onto heavy rag paper using oil-based inks and subsequently mounted behind glass within gilded or turned timber frames.

Authentic period engravings display a distinct plate mark indentation around the border, precise plate-hatched lines under magnification, and evidence of natural age-related toning on hand-made paper.

Extremely wide artworks work effectively when hung centrally above long furniture pieces such as sideboards, console tables, or sofas to anchor the horizontal line of a room.

Keep framed paper works out of direct sunlight and high humidity, ensure UV-protective glass is utilized, and clean the outer frame gently with a dry microfiber cloth.
