In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The box is in good order and displays well. There are some signs of age and some general knocks and marks but nothing detrimental.
The Level itself is in very good condition. The instrument and brass fittings have been lightly cleaned and the parts lubricated and it displays very nicely. The lenses are undamaged and the optics are remarkably clear with just some small specks on the lenses. The clarity and range are very good however it is not new and is really sold as a collectors item than a working scientific instrument.
It measures approximately 8" (20cm) long, plus some further extension. The box is 12"(31cm) long by 3 1/2" (9cm) square.
