Set of Three Georgian Plaster Wall Brackets

A superb and decorative set of three Georgian plaster wall brackets of the most unusual design. The brackets are composed of elements relating to music and theatre. Open books form the shelves which in turn are supported by scrolls, horns, pipes, a tambourine and finally a mask. The plaster is painted to resemble marble which has obviously greyed over time and flaked in places. There are some losses to the horns and chips etc. but overall, they are very structurally sound and perfectly usable. There have also been some slight repairs and overpaint. Each is inscribed and dated under the books, these are almost illegible but the date of 1801 is discernible. The survival of this group is amazing and even with the losses they are the most decorative and striking items.
