Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Sutherland table is a narrow, drop-leaf table style introduced during the Victorian era, typically featuring hinged leaves that fold almost vertically and supported by swinging gate legs.

These tables were traditionally crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, frequently incorporating turned or bobbin-turned legs and brass castors for mobility.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery methods, hand-turned wooden components, timber patina, and period-appropriate brass hardware or castors beneath the feet.

Positioned against a wall when folded closed, this versatile piece can be easily opened to function as a compact tea table or serving surface in living spaces or reception rooms.

Maintenance requires dusting with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying quality beeswax or furniture polish to nourish the timber grain, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.
