Circa 1904 -1920. This fine female Black Grouse sometimes referred by country folk as a ‘Grey Hen’ is magnificently modelled against a remarkable painted back drop within a ebonized case with gilt quadrant beading to the front (this was the firms most expensive model) and is all in beautiful condition. Currently sitting on my own chest of draws and being fully admired.
For more information on this most famous Victorian Taxidermy firm see “A Record of Spicers” by Robert Chinnery (myself) published back in 2001.
