Very well proportioned late 18th century to early 19th century French fruitwood and inlaid writing table or would also make a great dressing table…the fruitwood is a wonderful colour and being a provincial Empire style, it has a less formal feel.
The table top itself has aged well and is covered in the most lovely age and use marks, all under decades of polish so it looks great and would be a real shame to remove all that…in my opinion!
The full width drawer gives great storage and the table top gives lots of working space, but also as shown in the photos, it will easily accommodate a dressing table mirror.
The inlay running throughout is subtle, but very effective and contrasts so well with the fruitwood.
A good solid piece of very decorative antique French furniture.
