Status:This item has been sold Sold by:Ruby Antiques
One of only 300 copies printed by Chiswick Press in 1916. This beautiful book includes descriptions of the authors own antique collection with prints of the authors own watercolour paintings of the same items. This collection contains mostly ceramics (Chelsea, Derby, Worcester, Svres, and Dresden), Battersea enamels, portrait miniature, 16th -18th century gold French and English watches, cabinets, jewel boxes, and objects of historical interest. This collection included the Mary Queen of Scots Watch by Pierre Duhamel. The collection is now housed in the Usher Gallery in Lincolnshire.
The book also includes a preface authored by George Charles Williamson, an eminent British art historian and antiquarian who wrote several books on European art and antiquities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The gilt oval cartouche and floral dentelles are possibly a Sangorski and Sutcliffe design. The book is bound in red Moroccan leather. There are a few signs of wear and fading on t...he leather binding, but the internal pages and plates are unfaded. All 80 colour illustrations are included.
