Sold by: Pareglio & Ayres Antiques Interiors

A military bass drummer''s full Leopard skin apron dating to circa 1900, Boer War, with the head fitted with glass eyes, one is a replacement. This skin is mounted on a cotton backing and edged with red felt. This very collectable piece of militaria has the makers label for ‘H Potter’ to the underside of the apron, the label reads ‘H Potter, Drums, London’.

The Leopard skin still retains all of its sixteen large claws. The ‘dewclaw’ which is the claw of the first digit of the front feet only was removed/not included when the apron was originally made by Henry Potter’s workshop.

There is some wear and minor damage but this is to be expected for a piece of this age and the belt is a possible replacement.
