A wonderful bronze inkwell modelled as a lobster or crayfish grasping a sea anemone. The bronze is very finely modelled and detailed, the naturalistic finish on the lobster is particularly good. The whole is in excellent condition with the original finish and patina. The inkwell retains the original bronze liner and glass inkwell, although the glass does have a few chips on the edge. The bronze is most likely French but is not marked. A charming and wonderfully decorative piece with an unusual marine design. C.1900.
