Description

An early 19thC small single draw telescope by Troughton and Simms of London. Made early in the partnership which commenced in 1826 to a very high standard. Mahogany barrel with brass tubes and fittings. Excellent lenses which despite its size enables the moons craters to be observed. Tight action with one minor dent to the focusing tube. Sliding shutter to the eyepiece but the brass objective lens cap is lacking. Minor longitudinal cracks to the mahogany barrel but of no consequence. Unusual size and In my opinion a little beauty. The mahogany stand is later but it displays the scope well as well as keeping it safe.
