Description

This is a charming 19th century folk art shell encrusted marine picture within a glass dome dating from around 1880. The frame of the work is beautifully embellished with many varieties of seashell around the glass dome that encloses the charming coastal scene with masted ship entering a harbour with lighthouse in the foreground and colourful coral and seaweed.

A delightful piece of folk art, it is in good condition for its age with only approximately six of the smallest shells missing around the outer frame.

The piece measures 26 cms in diameter and 5 cms high.
