Antique Scottish Luggie Drinking Vessel

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Opus Antiques

A 19th century Scottish staved wood Scottish drinking vessel.

A Luggie is a drinking vessel made in Scotland. It consists of alternating wooden staves bound by willow. In between each stave made by hand using a knife there is feather banding to ensure the vessel is water tight. There is some minor losses to small parts of the feathering.

Interestingly between the two layered base there is a dry pea which when shaken would get the attention of the bar tender.

It measures 12.5cm w x 17cm h including the handle.
